JULIA ZHU is an attorney in California and an associate of the USA China Law Group at the US office in Malibu, CA. Ms. Zhu’s legal experience in China and the United States has given her a unique insight into the legal and investment environment of the world’s two most critical economies. Ms. Zhu represents and counsels domestic and international clients on a broad range of corporate matters including, but not limited to, entity structuring, expansion strategies, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, finance, securities, real estate, distressed assets, non-performing loans, cross border transactions and intellectual property protection.
Ms. Zhu is fluent in Mandarin and English.
Ms. Zhu advises private, corporate and institutional investors, equity funds, and sponsors, on deal sourcing, negotiation, due diligence, valuation, asset management, and exit strategies for investments in China, Hong Kong, and the US.
Ms. Zhu also assists clients on Intellectual Property issues in China by working with counsel in China on identifying, reporting, and closing down copyright, trademark and patent infringers. She also assists clients on litigation matters in China.
Upon graduation from one of China’s most prestigious law schools and passing the Chinese Judge’s Exam in 1999 Ms. Zhu began her legal career in Nanjing Gulou District Court where she judged scores of dissimilar business, civil, and criminal cases.
Previously, Ms. Zhu was an associate of Brinkman Portillo in Los Angeles, CA where Ms. Zhu provided general counsel, litigation and corporate services in bankruptcy, real estate, international business, securities, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, finance, and venture capital.
Julia Zhu is counsel for a non-profit charitable foundation and is responsible for supervising programs to promote U.S. China relations and education through seminars, networking, and scholarship programs for Chinese citizens pursuing graduate or post-graduate academic programs in major universities in the United States. Seminars at universities include UCLA and USC. Ms. Zhu works with the foundation selection committee whose members include Professor Chen Jia Er, the former President of Beijing University and Professor Wan Gang, the President of Tongji University.
