The Foundation

The USA China Law Group is affiliated with a California 501 (c) 3 non-profit Foundation which awards grants to organizations and individuals that seek to promote cultural awareness and economic ties with China through programs, scholarships and initiatives. Since 2001, the foundation has awarded grants to such distinguished institutions as the California Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, UCLA and Loyola Law School.An integral part of the Foundation is the Academy of Excellence, a scholarship program for Chinese graduate students wishing to pursue post-graduate academic studies in the United States. The Academy is overseen by noted academics Dr. Chen Jia-er, former president of Beijing University and Dr. Wan Gang, current president of Tongji University. Twenty scholarships are available annually and each scholarship carries a stipend of $10,000. Recipients who perform well in their first year may apply for additional funding. FOUNDATION GUIDELINES

Grants are awarded on the basis of merit, educational importance, relevance to program goals and cost-effectiveness. The USA China Law Group welcomes Letters of Inquiry from non-profit organizations active in the areas of fostering U.S. China relations through education.

Information to be provided in a Letter of Inquiry:

  • Brief description of organization
  • Description of the problem or need being addressed
  • Brief outline of the program or project activities and specific goals
  • Indication of who would be responsible for managing the project, including potential collaborators
  • Estimate of project cost and amount you intend to request in your proposal
